"A Study in Scarlet" fun facts: (1887)


  • Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson didn't know each other at the beginning of this story. They were introduced by Inspector Stamford.
  • In Chapter 2, Dr. Watson has just returned to London from Afghanistan.
  • The whole reason Dr. Watson came to London was to find lodgings. He was then introduced to live with Sherlock Holmes.

    Mycroft is well known as Holmes intelligent logical lazy brother. Watson had a brother with alternating luck. And the only reason Watson is willing to write the Final Problem is because of Moriarity's brother is dragging Holmes name in the dirt. Oh what great influence these invisible (semi-invisible in Mycrofts case be fair he is mentioned far more often than the others) brothers have.

    often avoided often exploited Sherlock Holmes "one vice" as stated by Watson is his cocaine usage at the slight inclination of boredom. Do you like myself believe that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle used this to punish his creation for becoming so popular or that he was attempting to humanize Holmes so to speak by giving him flaws your opinions please
