Why? Well for one because-- like I said-- he looks like a pickpocket! Not just the clothes, the eyes, the jawline and everything! Sherlock's supposed to have sharp quisical intellectual and yet KIND eyes--not the sorta evil crafty look I can almost imagine I see in that actor's. I just don't think he'll make the perfect Sherlock I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised with. In my opinion (and you can disagree, it's just what I think), Basil Rathbone makes the absolute perfectest Sherlock EVER! I mean I read the books first and I had this mental image of what I thought Sherlock would look like based off of the descriptions... and then I saw the Basil Rathbone/Sherlock movies and my jaw dropped to the floor because he was absolutely EVERYTHING I imagined him to be!P.S. And Nigel Bruce is such an awesome Watson! SAME thing! Just what I imagined him!! And rather funny too! :P Do you find this valuable? |

I do not agree with you about robert downey jr., but I totally agree with you when you talk about basil rathbone, and nigel bruce. When I read the books, I thought the same thing, to me Basil is the bestest! But I think Robert looks like him!

Hahaha the way you worded that it sounds like we NEVER agree!!! Omigosh did you see Downey Jr's description of Sherlock?!?! "Querky and nuts"!!!!??? WHAT?! Sherlock is not querky and DEFINATELY not nuts!! :(

You all and your Basil Rathbone! He must be a really great actor to capture you all the way he has--especially Sherlock! I'll have to rent one of his Holmes films sometime! And on the matter of Downey Junior--I agree with Watson, he'll probably make an okay Sherlock. I don't know what Sherlock is supposed to look like very well, but he looks like makeup and decent costumes could turn him into a reasonable master detective!

Basil Rathbone is a faboulus actor! He is the best sherlock I have ever seen! And Basil looks like Sherlock! His best movie is Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon. And I can not wait to see the new movie!
